Owner Firm Foundation Tax Services
Like so many Americans, I was frustrated by the amount of money that I was paying in Federal Taxes. I started taking my taxes to a CPA, because I assumed that a CPA would be able to provide me with the advice I needed to reduce my federal tax burden.
That was when I learned that all CPA’s are not trained and educated in the same way. Some CPAs, like the one I was using to prepare my taxes, only focuses on Tax Preparation. What I needed was a tax strategist.
My CPA informed me that he does not do tax planning or tax strategy. He then said something that stopped me cold. “There is nothing more I can do for you.”
This is something that you do not want to hear from the company that you have trusted to do your taxes. They always did my taxes correctly, and they were and are a good company, with good people. But they did not have the knowledge and expertise that I needed to help me reduce my Federal Tax burden.
My education and background are in IT and Cyber Security. I am a Network Engineer by training and have worked in the software industry, at the management level, for the past 15 years. I knew that I could do a better job and take better care of my customer by offering them a full suite of tax services; preparation, planning, advisory, and strategy. So, I decided to abandon a successful management career in IT and go back to school. I studied accounting and tax preparation, and Firm Foundation Tax Services was born.
